Just thought I would bring everyone up to date...I am now in Cambridge. I have finished my term in southern Sudan and I get to work from home for the month of July - in my parents' home in Cambridge. It is so lovely to be back in the UK although slightly strange as I don't know anyone in Cambridge and so it feels like I only have a social life at the weekends. But then, I am loving going to the gym a lot and do lots of fun classes and things that I am not sure when I would fit in much of a social life! It is quite hard work trying to motivate myself to do the work I have to do though as I feel so far removed from the project and less of that sense of urgency and also because I guess being the UK feels like I should be chilling out completely and just spending time figuring out things for the next big adventure.
Have been a little distracted by family too especially with lovely siblings and gorgeous nephews and nieces around and planning a Ruby wedding celebration for my parents (which took much more time and thought than I thought it would). They had a lovely day though and keep telling all their friends about it so that is really sweet. They also have a slide show of their 40 years together as I was able to scan in some old photos including one from their engagement. So many years of great adventure together and it was really lovely to look through (but quite time consuming!).
Now that that day is over and siblings and nieces and nephews are not around I feel I have a bit of space to chill out and also get my head in gear for the next lot of planning and thinking.
Have had a lovely weekend this weekend in Cambridge with a friend's company's sports day event...meeting her colleagues on Friday evening and going for drinks and dancing (yey! been far too long!), then Saturday playing lots of fun sport all day including squash, rounders, dodgeball, old school races, volleyball..., then out for a smart do last night...was up for church this morning and lunch at one of the families' there and have just had a couple of hours of much needed sleep!!!
I have some lovely weekends and evenings coming up too...and I have my surf school holiday in Portugal all booked up AND my friend actually can come with me now so that is really great! :)
Now I just need to figure out how to work hard AND play hard like I used to in the UK! I find I have the energy for one or the other or find that after going to a gym class that getting back to work needs time to wind up again. I used to be able to switch easily between all the things I did - maybe I am just getting old!
Anyways, will be thinking about how to keep people updated on my world travel adventures and timetable who would like to know what I am doing - either just to see photos, to keep in touch or to maybe meet up with me along the way somewhere...anyone with bright ideas for this please let me know!
I'm off to do some research now...until next time - keep giggling! xx
